I began di-ma as my own design project in 2002 and geared it toward clothing, accessories and now housewares design.  Inspired by color, pattern and an intriguing process, I took a class in 2005 and haven't stopped working with handmade felt since.

[see process]

Wet felting is an arduous BUT FUN process of layering loose (usually wool or silk) fibers and bonding them together using hot water, soap and various methods of agitation.  I even employ an old-fashioned washboard.  Wet felting should not be confused with the knitting/washing machine process called "fulling."  I cannot knit, sit in one place for very long (unless watching episodes of "30 Rock") and generally cannot be bothered to do most things unless it involves color changes every 30 minutes or so.  My process is a big crazy mess before the refined end result and a great compliment to my job as an architect.

Because my designs and color palettes are constantly evolving, the current product gallery is intended as a portfolio.  My di-ma store on Etsy.com is coming soon.  Please contact me directly for custom orders as I love to personalize color and form for my projects.
